Vandals Go the Way of the Guberif
The University of Idaho is ready to roll out a new marketing campaign. Or, more precisely, roll on.
Taking a cue from an old State Department of Lands campaign which painted the slogan "Don't be a guberif" (firebug spelled backwards), the Vandals are set to start vandalizing roadways all over the Panhandle. The slogan "It's OK to be a Nafladnav." The University is concetrating on northern Idaho to begin with, and will continue the process in southeastern Idaho in the spring.
Work parties are being planned for the next three weekends. Volunteers will be compensated for their time with cases of Kibbey Beer. The crews will be working dilegently with the intent of having the new slogan on every road every three miles.
A representative of the University said via conference call "There is, of course, many legal problems presented with a bold mass media campaign supporting the University of Idaho. In discussing the matter with professers at the law school, we identified the potentially negative impact plastering north Idaho with "Be a Vandal" slogans. The University would be legally copable for any vandalism performed after one of those bill-boards went up. This marketing scheme leaves us in a good legal standing while still marketing our brand."
Other sources say that many ideas have come to the table on which direction the University should take it's marketing campaign. Singer, a well known producer of sewing machines, offered to mass produce a seam ripper with Vandal Logo on the bottom. Krylon offered to produce a line of spray paint in gold, silver, and black. In the end, the Nafladnav campaign was deemed the best route.
So this winter when your stuck behind those snow plows on highway 3, keep your a close watch. You'll never know when you'll see a Nafladnav...
