Akey to Reveal New "Mirror" Scheme
It's been a long season for the Idaho Vandal football team. It's not even half over.
At 1-4 thus far into the season, ad once again looking up from the cellar of the WAC standings, Idaho is looking to spice things up this Saturday vs Nevada. Apparently, the coaching staff is preparing to do something no other FBS football team has ever done before.
For the first time ever, all the offensive starters will play defense, and all the defensive starters will play offense.
In a phony press conference today, a very good Akey impersonator said this: "Let's face it Bubba, when the offense is out there, not many points are scored. When the defense is out there, lots of points are scored. Let's use that to our advantage for once and wrestle us a darn win!"
Not only will the offense be starting on defense, they will not be setting up in the 4-3. Instead, Nathan Enderle and Deonte Jackson will be lined up as if in shotgun formation. When the Nevada QB calls his signals, Enderle will mimic those signals. Same goes for defense. "The hardest thing," the Akey impersonator said, "is getting enough guys on the line of scrimmage when the defense has the ball. Those corners are used to lining up 15 yards away from the line of scrimmage, so gettin them to scoot up a bit has been a real challenge." Look for Jojo Dickson to get most of the snaps, but with three qb/lb in the back field, it will be difficult to guess just who's gonna get the ball. "Never before has a team disguised their playcalling so well" the Akey impersonator said triumphantly. "If this doesn't confuse them, nothing will."
Additionally, Akey plans to keep coach Axeman in the stands for Saturday's game. Before the game, Akey and Criner will be holding auditions for Offensive Coordinator in the Tailgate area of the Kibbey Dome. The 5 fans that can scream profanity the loudest will be allowed access on the sidelines and will be calling all the plays for the offense. "Let's face it," the Akey impersonator grinned," It would take 5 drunk fans to cuss as much as Axeman."
